A Part-Time Getaway Becomes a Full-Time Dream Kitchen
Moving from a part-time vacation home to a full-time residence is an exciting change! However, it often highlights the need for a home that fits your new, everyday lifestyle. We recently completed a stunning transformation for a homeowner in the Pinebrook condo community in Bradenton. Their challenge was a small, outdated kitchen in a part-time residence that was becoming their full-time home. Our goal was to create a contemporary, coastal-style kitchen that felt open and spacious, all within a reasonable budget. Despite its small size, we created a stunning kitchen that feels open, contemporary, and coastal.
Opening Up the Space
The Before
One of the biggest challenges was the kitchen’s small footprint. At only 100 square feet, the kitchen felt enclosed and cramped. We knew we had to open it up to create the spacious feel the client desired. We began by removing a partition wall, which instantly made the area feel larger and more connected to the rest of the condo. To further enhance this open feel, we removed a domed ceiling with old, fluorescent lights. This simple change provided clean lines, a more modern look, and far better lighting.
Smart Storage and Coastal Style
To address the need for more storage without expanding the kitchen’s footprint, we made several smart design choices. We installed StarMark maple cabinets with a Bridgeport door style and a Macadamia finish from their Essentials Collection. This line is a perfect blend of quality and cost-effectiveness, helping us stay within budget. We also added clever storage solutions like a dual bin trash pull-out, a lazy Susan, and deep drawers. A specially designed refrigerator alcove also provided a seamless, built-in look. For the countertops, Pompeii Valley Sand perfectly complements the coastal aesthetic, a beautiful white quartz with a subtle caramel veining that.
Finishing Touches and Budget-Friendly Solutions
The client was able to achieve their dream kitchen while still being mindful of the budget. By choosing cost-effective yet high-quality materials for the cabinets and countertops, they had enough flexibility to incorporate special design features. These included elegant large cove crown molding and beautiful new vinyl plank flooring throughout the space. The flooring’s warm, weathered oak look ties the entire condo together, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. This Bradenton condo kitchen remodel shows that you can achieve a sophisticated and functional kitchen even in a small space and with a limited budget. It’s Stressless.
