Kitchen Remodel in Greenfield Plantation

At Duncan’s Creative Kitchens, we love helping long-time homeowners transform their cherished spaces. We recently completed a full-scale home update for an original owner in Greenfield Plantation. After raising her family in the same Lakewood Ranch home for over two decades, this homeowner was ready to refresh her space and embrace the next phase of life. While the master bath received a full transformation, the kitchen was thoughtfully updated to preserve its functional layout while enhancing style and efficiency.

The Before

After 20 years, It's Time for an Update

Initially, the home was comfortable, but after two decades, it certainly needed attention. The beige tile floors ran throughout the living spaces and created a dated look. The kitchen’s ivy-print wallpaper, light wood cabinets, and original counters had all served their useful life. Ultimately, our client sought a fresh, contemporary space that reflected her current style and the home’s incredible potential. Kitchen remodel projects are deeply personal, whether in Greenfield Plantation or your own neighborhood, and this one was no exception.

We established a clear budget strategy from the start. Because the master bathroom required a full-scale renovation, the client wisely designated a larger portion of the budget to that space. Consequently, the kitchen received a thoughtful and impactful facelift that dramatically improved the aesthetics without requiring the extensive costs of altering the footprint or the existing soffits. The goal was to maximize visual impact and functionality within the existing structure.

Preserving Function, Elevating Style

The original kitchen layout always worked well for the homeowner. Therefore, we focused on selecting high-quality materials and smart accessories to enhance daily use and modernize the style. We partnered with StarMark Cabinetry for their reputation for excellence and durability.

The owner chose the clean, classic look of the Maple Bridgeport doorstyle. Furthermore, she selected a gorgeous Shale painted finish (a sophisticated medium gray) to replace the outdated light wood tone. This color introduced a sense of calm and elegance to the kitchen, while new charcoal hardware provided a contemporary contrast.

Since functionality was also a priority, the cabinets were outfitted with modern accessories essential for easy living. For instance, we incorporated specialized corner storage solutions, ample deep drawers for pots and pans, and a convenient trash pull-out. These small changes dramatically improved the kitchen’s organization and flow.

The Perfect Palette: Shale Cabinets and Cambria Quartz Countertops

After the cabinetry, we moved on to the stunning focal points: the countertops and the backsplash. The client wanted a high-end, timeless look that was also durable and easy to maintain. Therefore, she selected Cambria Torquay quartz for the countertops and the wrap-around bar area.

Cambria Torquay provides the luxurious look of natural marble, a bright and clean white with subtle gray veining without any of the maintenance required by natural stone. Paired with a pristine white undermount cast iron sink, the counters instantly brightened the room. In fact, the white counter surface and the soft gray cabinets created the perfect foundation for the new backsplash. For the tile, a weathered, white subway ceramic was installed, grouted with a complementary light gray. This textured, artisan feel breaks up the clean lines of the cabinets and counters, adding depth and visual interest. Similarly, the new flooring throughout the kitchen and living area contributed significantly to the transformation. The dated beige tile was removed and replaced with rich, warm cherry-finished vinyl plank flooring, which provides a cohesive and updated look.

The budget-conscious decision to reuse the existing stainless steel appliances was a success. Their metallic finish perfectly complements the new gray cabinets and white countertops, demonstrating that a full kitchen renovation doesn’t always require replacing every major component.

A Remodel Rooted in Experience and Vision

A New Kitchen Doesn't Always Require Huge Changes

Ultimately, this Greenfield Plantation kitchen remodel perfectly illustrates how deliberate material updates can completely transform a space without changing the floor plan. As the original owner of the home, the client had a clear vision: maintain what works, refresh what’s tired, and invest where it matters most.

By allocating a larger portion of her budget to the master bath renovation (see the master bath transformation here), she chose a strategic path that allowed both spaces to shine. The kitchen now feels brighter, more modern, and better suited to her current lifestyle—without sacrificing the memories built over the years.
