A Master Bathroom Should Be a Relaxing Retreat, No Matter the Size.

A master bathroom should be a relaxing retreat, not a source of frustration. Cramped, dated or just not quite right is not a way you should describe your master bath. At Duncan’s Creative Kitchens, we specialize in transforming these spaces into beautiful, functional, and spacious retreats. We recently had the opportunity to work on a master bath remodel at Greenfield Plantation in Lakewood Ranch, and the results were stunning.
The Before
The original bathroom was cold and cramped, measuring only 90 square feet. It featured a bulky, diagonal tub that made getting in and out difficult and a shower with an opaque, metal-framed door that visually ate up space. Designed for two people, it was now being used by a single homeowner who desired a more functional, open, and inviting area. The primary goal was to make the small room feel larger, increase the usable counter space, and add warmth while incorporating a navy blue accent color.
Smart Solutions for a Spacious Feel
To achieve these goals, we implemented several clever solutions. First, we kept most of the materials in light, neutral tones to create a bright and airy feel. We reconfigured the tub, installing a new Kohler Archer soaking tub. This change allowed for more space and included a built-in bench, which made transitioning in and out of the tub much more comfortable and infinitely safer.
A Stylish and Functional Vanity
The vanity was also a key part of the transformation. To gain usable counter space, we reduced the vanity’s size slightly but eliminated one of the two sinks. The new StarMark Cabinetry vanity in a rich Blueberry tinted varnish finish became the stunning navy blue accent the homeowner desired. We also installed a matching framed mirror and beautiful Cambria Torquay counters.
Modern Shower and Finishing Touches
For the shower, since we chose 12×24 tile for the bathroom floors, we decided to continue it up the walls as well. This larger tile size is a smart trick that gives the illusion of a bigger space. A sleek, frameless shower door with clear glass replaced the old, bulky one, dramatically increasing the visual area. We added a narrow band of navy blue accent tile on the shower wall to tie the entire room together. The finishing touches included Honey Bronze hardware and light fixtures, adding a touch of warmth and elegance. This Greenfield Plantation master bath remodel proves that even a small space can be transformed into a luxurious and spacious retreat.
